I WANT DR. BILL!

My ego took quite a hit today. A mom brought in her "charming" four-year-old with an ear infection. He hadn't been in for a while, and usually saw Dr. Bill. As I started to examine him, he said, "No! I like Dr. Bill better!" The mom reassured him, but he persisted, "I want Dr. Bill!"

I managed to get a quick peek at his ear, and I told the mom it was infected.
"No! I don't want it to be infected!"

I told the mom we could use antibiotics.
"No! I don't want antibiotics!"

I told the mom we might be able to get by with just eardrops.
"No! I don't want ear drops!"

I decided to have a little fun.

I told mom we could give him some chocolate to make it better.
"No! I don't want chocolate!"

I gave up. Next time we'll just make sure he gets to see Dr. Bill.

Dr. Bob
