Time to peak!

Well, I’m midway into my first of three weeks in the “peak” phase of my training. This is where you take your base training of 2 months ago, and the strength you have built upon that during last month’s “build’ phase, then you push your self even harder for the next three weeks. This is when it gets really fun! Just three more weeks of hard training – that’s it! This is my last chance to get stronger and faster before its GO time! Just need to be careful to not get hurt. I am also looking forward to the last two weeks of my training… the “taper” phase. Then is when you throttle way back and let your body recover before the race. It’s sometimes the most difficult part of training – at least mentally. You always think you need to get in better shape with some more intense workouts, but the time for that is over. You will be faster during the race if you are well rested before.
