Boys do love those toys!
I love equipment. You’ve got to have the right tool for the job. If I have to fix something around the house, the more trips to Home Depot the better! So, I started think that if I am going to complete an Ironman, maybe I should consider getting a new bike. After all, my current bike is getting pretty old and there is a fairly large dent in the frame. It might be nice to get one of those sleek time trail bikes with the aerodynamic handlebars just like the pros use. Of course, after seeing what a really nice new bike would cost, I elected to go with a year-old model that was on sale at my local bike shop, Ladera Cyclery. Shop owner Jeff Davis was great at helping me find a good bike that was in my price range. He also tweaked the seat height and handlebar position so the bike fit just right! As an avid cyclist, I appreciate the importance of a perfect fitting bike (my rear end appreciates it, too!) During the fitting, I asked Jeff if this bike was going to be more comfortable than my other bike since my elbows will be resting on the handlebar pads. His answer was a little disconcerting, “Yes, your elbows will be nice and comfortable, BUT the aero-tuck position will take some “getting used to” (read: you will be sore for the first few weeks!)… but you won’t care since you’ll be going so fast!”
