"X-Rays at an Early Age"

X-Rays at an Early Age
"I was wondering if you can give me some guidance. My 7 1/2 month old needs an x-ray to examine a bump in her head (the doctor believes it is an excess skull bone growth). Are there any potential risks with getting x-rays at such an early age?"

I had a patient ask me about this just today. She wanted to know if the DOZEN X-Rays that her son needed as a newborn would have any effect on him. I see many babies that needed multiple X-rays at a young age and I have still yet to see any problem. I wouldn't worry at all about an X-ray or two at this age.
