"My 4 ½-month-old daughter loves to take her bath but always cries heartbreakingly when it is time to dress her again. I tried to bath her at different times of the day, but she always cries no matter what time of the day. I used to bath her in the evening just before bedtime but I cannot stand her crying so badly so I am thinking of changing the bedtime routine.
Do I have to worry about her crying every time she needs to be dressed? If I cannot stop her crying, is it better to not have her cry just before bedtime? What can I do about it?"
I would imagine that this problem is just a short phase she is going through, and this shouldn’t be a problem for more than a few months.
My first suggestion: learn to get her dressed very quickly. That way, she only will cry for a minute or so.
Second suggestion: maybe you might have better success delaying the dressing. End the bath, dry her off, then just play for a while, and occasionally slip on a sock or shirt. Maybe she won’t notice that you are dressing her.
