15TH ANNUAL BUDDY WALK® & FESTIVAL
Who: Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles (DSALA) with National Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk® Spokesperson John C. McGinley, Dr. Cox on the ABC’s SCRUBS; Grand Marshal, Dr. Jim Sears of THE DOCTORS; Honoring Ken Jenkins, Dr. Kelso of SCRUBS with the Buddy Award, Emcees Mark Wallengren and Kristin Cruz of KOST’s Morning Show and a live performance by Steve Rushton of the HANNAH MONTANA MOVIE.
What: 15th Annual Buddy Walk and Festival for the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles. Buddy Walks are a national event of the National Down Syndrome Society held across the United States each fall to bring awareness and support to individuals born with Down syndrome and their families.
When: Sunday, November 15, 2008, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

1:00 PM Program & Walk followed by Medal Presentation
11:30 AM to 3:00 PM Lunch is served
Where: Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, CA
Race Track Infield; enter at Gate 6 off Colorado Place (free parking)
Cost:b> $30 adult over 18, $15 child 3 to 17, free children 2 and under (lower prices for pre- registration).

Festivities include:
Game Booths, Pony Rides, Arts & Crafts, Rides in the Air Force Mini Jets, DJ/Dance Pavilion, live music by various LA bands, Vendor Fair, Face Painting, LA Kings Mascot and Ice Girls.
Visuals:
2000 walkers from strollers to seniors, all in teams supporting individuals with Down syndrome walking the infield at Santa Anita Park Racetrack.
Additional Information on Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is the most common genetic condition affecting all ethnicities and approximately 1 in 800 births. Individuals with Down syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome which causes physical differences and disabilities. Most people with Down syndrome live a rich and productive life thanks to organizations like that DSALA which has been providing services for more then 30 years in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
