Nov. 06 - British Will Treat Heart Attacks with Stem Cells
In the largest study of its kind so far, doctors in Britain plan to inject 100 heart attack victims with stem cells (or a placebo control) taken from their own bone marrow within 5 hours of the heart attacks. Smaller studies in the last few years have shown better outcomes and healthier hearts using this procedure compared to not using stem cells.
Dr. Sears Comments: I find stem cell research very fascinating and promising. While I don’t support embryonic stem cell use, I believe newborn umbilical cord or adult bone marrow stem cells will provide us with a whole new realm of treatment possibilities for a whole host of childhood and adult diseases. Nov. 06 - Exercise May Decrease Hay Fever Allergies
A German study found that kids who live sedentary lifestyles are more likely to develop hay fever compared to their active counterparts.
Dr. Sears Comments: We know exercise helps build a stronger immune system, so this result isn’t surprising to me. Click here to read more health benefits of exercise.
