American Academy of Pediatrics 2007 Vaccine Schedule

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Birth - Hep B
1 month - Hep B
2 months - DTaP, HIB, Pc, Rotavirus, Polio
4 months - DTaP HIB, Pc, Rotavirus, Polio
6 months - DTaP, HIB, Pc, Rotavirus, Hep B, Flu (if in season)
1 year - MMR, Chickenpox, Hep A
15 months - HIB, Pc
18 months - DTaP, Polio, Hep A, Flu (if in season)
2 years - Flu
3 years - Flu
4 years - Flu
5 years - DTaP, Polio, MMR, Flu
12 years - Tdap, Meningococcal, HPV (3 doses - girls only)

My main worry about this schedule is that there really hasn't been enough research on the various chemicals and ingredients in many vaccines to prove that they are 100% safe. It has also been my experience that giving 5 or 6 vaccines at a time can increase the likelihood of a severe reaction. My Alternative Vaccine Schedule circumvents these theoretical worries and provides complete vaccine coverage, but at a more reasonable pace.

Before proceeding with the full regular vaccine schedule, I encourage parents to become fully informed about each disease and vaccine so they can understand the safest way to vaccinate their children.

Do we really need to be 100% safe here. I practice medicine and NOTHING I do is 100%. PLEASE stop telling people that there isn't enough research and to not get these vaccines. I have a distraught parent who opted to not get vaccines and her 16 month old has strep pneumo menigitis and will never be normal. A VACCINE PREVENTABLE DISEASE.

If you have read Dr. Sears' book, you will see that he in no way recommends that people NOT get vaccines. More importantly, I found his book to be a real champion of the need for immunizations in the U.S.--with the caveat that perhaps the current "one size fits all" approach to vaccine schedules is not working (at best) and potentially dangerous (at worst). It is going to take more pediatricians who are not afraid of the current medical establishment to stand up (like Dr. Sears) and say that perhaps it is time to take a new look at the vaccine schedule, and to tailor it so that we are not overwhelming children's bodies with multiple live viruses at once (MMR) and multiple shots containing the neurotoxin aluminum.

it is scary that you practice medicine...that I do know!

Parents should not have to be between a rock and a hard place when it comes to immunizing. They should not have all the crap they do in them. The medical machine is sooo ignorant about health it is pitiful. Pitiful for us, the patients!
We can not trust conventional medicine with our health any longer. Educate the doctors!

Experienced doctors spent many years 'between a rock and a hard place', fighting to limit the damage of diseases causing hearing loss, brain damage, even death. We know the deep sadness of watching a family as they watch their child undergo painful medical care, as we to try to save their child's life. Dr. Sears' father saw measles and hemophilus influenza diseases that now, thankfully are much more rare. This is NOT a guaranteed permanent success. These diseases are now PREVENTABLE. This prevention comes with some risk (thus vaccines are not 100% safe). Still, we identify most of the children who need vaccination schedule modification without resorting to 'alternative' vaccination schedules that delay a child's protection and that increases that child's and that community's risk of disease. Doctors are educated by careful research, with designs that advance our knowledge of risks and benefits for our patients. Such studies protect the rights of the children who participate, and carefully informs their families of potential risks and benefits. This is vastly more challenging but more valuable than Dr. Sears' schedule that circumvents 'theoretical risks' at the expense of keeping children vulnerable to preventable diseases. How do you account for all the research done in the U.S ( which is underplayed or censored ) & other countries ( openly ) which shows a link to vaccines & 100's of thousands of children in the U.S & Europe with damaging effects? Not to mention the recalls due to death & long term effects right after certain vaccines.
    Theoretical risks??? Careful research???
looks like you need to do some more research. Infants under 6mths & their immune systems would be a good place to start.

    Read the book first.

Read the book. You are arguing something that Dr. Sears doesn't even advocate.

    Question for Dr. Sears....

I am trying to find out as much as I can pertaining to the Meningococcal vaccine. I am confused on a few key facts....I know that it only guards against certain strains. Are the strains it guards against the most common? All of the stats seem to merge the numbers. I want the bottom line on how many children get the strains it does protect against. How many of these cases are fatal?
Secondly, I am trying to ascertain what is really behind the cases of GB syndrome that may be linked to the vaccine.
Do you support this vaccine and if so at what age?
    Thanks

    -Linda, mom of three.

My third child ( 2 yrs old ) was fully vaccinated on this new improved ( ya right ) schedule. He reacted to every office visit vaccination with crying and screaming for over 3 hours. Every time. I was told this was not a reaction. Reading the insert after the fact told me it was indeed a reaction. After his MMR same reaction but he lost all 14 words and his ability to use eye contact
the very next day. He also went from a much sought after baby model to a child who would not follow directions at all and would not even sit still or look for a simple home photo. Guess what..within 2 weeks he became severly autistic. The new schedule gives too many too soon. My 22 yr old daughter had 10 by the age of 5. She is perfectly healthy. My 13 yr old had 18. My son had 21 by the age of 1!! You tell me why parents shouldnt be concerned. Slow it down. Spread them out. I am not anti-vax except I think some children react to them and some pediatricians ignore it because they are so caught up in just vaccinating vaccinating vaccinating. There is no better science than the thousands of cries of parents saying TOO much TOO soon. RFK JR has a very good study on this.

I am a first time mom with a two month old baby. We go for our 2 month check up next week and I am torn - I don't have peace about the vaccines. I've been researching, and the main one I am afraid of is the TDaP (the MMR isn't scheduled until later, so I have time to research more and make a decision). DOes anyone have any information regarding the TDaP - did you give it at two months? THanks!

I went ahead and did a combo vaccine of Polio, HIB, and TDap at 2 months. My son was fine - no fever, so side effects. Just be sure to give some Tylenol when you go. Good luck!

When are people going to wake up? Just because some children are fine, it does not mean others are.. As far as I am concerned.. The leaders who suppress this information should be trialed for MURDER!!!!!!!!
