Choosing The Best Bed For Baby

Looking for the safest and best bed for your baby when cosleeping? I wanted to share one of our favorite and the most well-researched bedside bassinet.  Please, read on! One of the top parenting gifts – and goals – is to help your baby – and parents – get a good night’s sleep.  A new mother’s natural instinct – and her new baby’s natural desire – is to sleep close to one another.  Over my fifty years in pediatric practice when I ask mothers where they naturally feel their babies should sleep, nearly all respond, “My baby was part of  me for nine months, so it’s just my natural instinct to have baby sleep close to me for at least another nine months, and perhaps longer.”

Also, in response to the question I get almost every day, “Where should my baby sleep?”  my answer is “Wherever parents and baby get the best night’s sleep is the right arrangement for your family.

Over the last thirty years, I have thoroughly studied the benefits of cosleeping, which I define as “sleeping within arm’s reach of your baby.”  While many parents are happy having baby nestled next to them in their bed more and more parents are finding more sleep comfort if they have their baby close to them but in a bedside bassinet.  For this reason, over 25 years ago Martha and I helped co-develop the Arm’s Reach Cosleeper.  We started with the following criteria:

Baby Bed Requirements For Cosleeping

  1. It had to be safe.
  2. It had to fit snuggly and safely in touch with mother’s mattress and close enough for easy comforting and night feeding.

The two reasons I recommend the Arm’s Reach Bedside Cosleeper Bassinet are:

  1. It is the only bedside cosleeper that has an over twenty-year safety record
  2. It has been used by thousands of parents to help the family enjoy a good night’s sleep

Why Safe Cosleeping Is So Important

Parenting, in a nutshell, is giving your child the tools to succeed in life.  One of those top tools is creating a healthy sleep attitude so that baby grows up learning that sleep is a pleasant state to enter and a fearless state to remain in.  That’s why the Arm’s Reach Bedside Cosleeper Bassinet is such a valuable nighttime parenting tool.
