Special Breastfeeding Situations

Special needs babies will require special strategies for successful breastfeeding. It’s important to note that the more special are a baby’s needs, the more these babies need the health benefits that only mother’s milk can supply. I, Martha, breastfed Stephen, who has Down Syndrome, for three years. It took a lot of patience and work to arrive at a latch-on technique that would work for both me and Stephen. When I kept my eyes on the prize, I was motivated to keep trying all these strategies because I knew how important it was for both of us.
